We haven’t met yet, but I feel like a giddy school girl when I think of Canada.
Is it even possible to have a crush on a country?
For the last few years I’ve been toying with the idea of moving to London on a working holiday visa. The thing was that I didn’t feel giddy about it…
My guts had been yelling “CANADA. CANADA. CANADA” – it was like a terrible yet addictive song repeatedly playing in my head.
I realised that Canada was also an option so I decided to do some serious Googling.
All those beautiful photos jumped out at me.
Lake Louise. It’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

I have made it my life mission to go to that beautiful lake. Even if it means I would have to either fly, train, bus or drive there.
Canada is one massive country. A LOT BIGGER THAN AUSTRALIA!!
Vancouver. Toronto. Quebec. Montreal. Ottawa. Edmonton. Calgary. Banff.
So many options, yet I have decided on Toronto – mainly it being one of the most multicultural cities in the world. And hey, it’s shitloads cheaper than Sydney.
I’m still figuring out the logistics of moving overseas, but I will be getting a Working Holiday Visa – otherwise known as International Experience Canada, which is for 18-30 year olds and can last up to 24 months.
I turn 30 next year and I need to get this sorted out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. There’s no time to be a-wasted.
So I have a new mission:
I’ll be posting periodically to keep y’all updated with my mission to become a temporary (maybe honorary) Canadian.
I have a crush on you, Canada.
Yours in bacon and maple syrup,
